"Binbir Yüzlü Adam" Lon Chaney'in performanslarından Doug Jones'a uzanan bu yolda bazı çoklu canlandırmaları (Peter Sellers, Dr. Strangelove vs), değiştirdiği cinsiyetiyle meşhur olmuşları (Harris Glenn Milstead, Divine) ve Kaptan Kirk maskeli Michael Myers başta olmak üzere Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th), Leatherface (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre), Ghostface (Munch'un tablosundan esinlenerek, Scream), Jigsaw (Saw), The Djinn (Wishmaster) gibi farklı oyuncular tarafından canlandırılmış seriyal katillerini,Darth Vader (Star Wars) gibi kostümünden ziyade sesiyle öne çıkanları (James Earl Jones) veThe Gill Man (Creature from the Black Lagoon), Howard T. Duck (Howard the Duck)gibi aynı filmde farklı oyuncular tarafından canlandırılmış karakterleri almadım.

Bunun yanında, seçtiğim 60'ı aşkın performansa (ki zamanla artacaktır) istinaden bir yirmi küsur daha seçtim: Filmin bir bölümünde yüzü tamamen görünen (Jack Nicholson'ın Joker'i) ya da makyajı hafif de olsa bu görünümüyle akıllara kazınan (Chaplin'in Şarlo'su vs) isimleri de ana listeye ek olarak toplama dahil ettim. Böylece (yukarıda sayılan isimlerle beraber) yaklaşık 100 kişilik bir performans tablosu ortaya çıktı ve bir o kadarı da unutuldukları yerde hatırlanmak üzere eminim ki bekliyorlar. Robert Downey Jr'ın henüz izlemediğimiz Tropic Thunder'daki zenci performansına da selam durduktan sonra listemize geçelim ve Empire'ın 10 kişilik seçkisinin ardından sinemanın bugününden geçmişe doğru geri saymaya başlayalım. Martin Landau'nun neden bu listede olduğunu anlayamadım. Ed Wood'da Boris Karloff'u oynuyor olabilir, ama o filmde ne makyajı vardır ne birşey. Zaten bu listedeki oyuncuların bazıları yaratıkları, bazıları karikatürize insanları, bazıları ise deformasyona sahip insanları oynamış. Yani aslında tutarlı bir liste sayılmaz.

Hem madem bu işler makyajla oluyor, o zaman Gandhi'yi oynayabilmek için dişlerini çektirip kulaklarını ameliyatla kepçe yaptıran (ve her çekim günü ten rengi koyulaştırılıp bir de latexle yaşlandırma makyajı uygulanan) Sir Ben Kingsley'i de mi saymayalım?
